Alpha 0.1 (March 2011)

Alpha 0.1 is the first release of Saxon-CE. It is a technology preview; test coverage is very incomplete, and all features and facilities are subject to change. The release has been built to cease working on 30 June 2011.

The product is written in Java and has been cross-compiled into Javascript using the Google Web Toolkit (GWT). It runs entirely client-side: there are no server components.

The baseline for this release is Saxon 9.3 Home Edition. Much code has been removed from that product (for example XQuery, updates, XSLT 3.0 and XPath 3.0 support, serialization, Saxon extensions, the Tiny Tree, support for .NET) in the interests of reducing the product size; some features have also been added to integrate into the browser environment or to deal with the challenges imposed by the GWT technology.
