Saxon Technical Support

Saxon, even as an open source product, has an enviable reputation both for its reliability and for the quality of support. Although there is no formal entitlement to technical support, in practice all questions are answered efficiently and promptly. Saxonica is a small organization and the service we provide is personal: you know who you are talking to.

The same applies to the commercial Saxon-SA product. Purchasing the product does not by itself provide any formal entitlement to support services, but Saxonica will use its best efforts to answer your questions.

Questions relating to the open source Saxon-B product can be raised on the Saxon mailing list or forum at sourceforge.net. However, SourceForge is a resource for open source software only, so it should not be used for questions specific to Saxon-SA. Instead, please contact us at

Saxonica does not currently offer a standard support contract, since our corporate clients have widely varying requirements. Instead, we can put together a package of training, consultancy, and support services to meet your particular needs.

XML Consultancy

As well as Saxon-specific services, Saxonica is also able to provide general XML-related consultancy. We have specific expertise in XSLT, XQuery, XPath, and XML Schema, especially in a Java environment, but we also have broad experience in managing the architecture and design of large-scale applications, especially in disciplines such as object modeling and database design.

Current clients include:

  • an international manufacturing company using a wide range of XML technologies including Saxon, Tamino, and Orbeon to implement human-resources and internal financial applications

  • a major investment bank using XML Schema as the basis for a corporate data model, with Saxon-SA used to perform schema-aware transformations of the hundreds of different message types exchanged between applications

Saxonica has also carried out numerous smaller assignments for clients. The most common requests are for staff training in XSLT and XQuery, and for help with performance tuning of existing applications.
