The following downloads are available from this site. Please click on the version you require to start the download. When the download is complete, unzip the file into a suitable directory, then read the HTML documentation in the doc subdirectory for instructions on how to get started.

Separate download files are available for Saxon on the Java platform and Saxon on the .NET platform. An additional download file (common to both platforms) is available containing documentation, Saxon-HE source code, and sample applications.

The current release is Saxon 9.2; the latest maintenance release, available since 9 August 2010, is 9.2.1.2. Saxon 9.2 is packaged in three editions: Enterprise Edition (EE), Professional Edition (PE), and Home Edition (HE). The HE product is open source, and can be obtained from the Saxon project page on Sourceforge. The EE and PE downloads are:

• Saxon-EE for .NET (7.3Mb)
• Saxon-PE for Java (2.2Mb)
• Saxon-PE for .NET (7.1Mb)

These products can be used with any license key issued after 9 August 2009, unless special terms applied. Customers holding license keys issued before that date will need to purchase an upgrade. To purchase an upgrade, please buy the products as if you were a new customer, quoting the serial number of your existing license. A refund will then be given based on the date your existing license expired, as explained in the upgrade policy.

Saxon-EE is the new name for Saxon-SA, reflecting the fact that there is now far more to the product than just schema awareness. New features in Saxon-EE 9.2 include:

1. Streaming templates in XSLT (ability to process a source document using template rules in streaming mode, provided the templates adhere to a strict subset of the language)
2. Selected features from XQuery 1.1 including grouping and higher-order functions
3. More features and closer conformance to XSD 1.1
4. Separate compilations of query modules
5. A new mechanism for binding of "integrated extension functions" with explicit binding of parameters and types, and the ability to access information from the static context.
